CLASS CONTENTS
ISMP offers two 3-month courses of study: beginners and advanced
levels. Each course consists of 4 classes: Production1, Production2,
Production3, Film History. (Refer to the below list for details
of each class.) In both courses students will learn practical skills
such as writing original scripts, filming with a camera, editing
with the newest digital equipment. Two digital video(DV) productions
in the beginners course and two DV productions in the advanced course
are required for the completion of each course curriculum. The advanced-level
course focuses on the producer's role, and students at this level,
will learn about the production system in which more specialized
professional techniques are required.

Production 1A (PRD1A) |
Students will learn
the basic skills of script writing and complete 2 scripts which
are between 5 to 10 minutes long |
Production 2A (PRD2A)

Students will learn
the basics of Pre-Production. They will also be exposed to the
basic skill of operating a DV camera, lighting, gripping recording
sound production. Students are required to complete a short
film based on the scripts they wrote in the PRD1A class |
Production 3A (PRD3A) |
This class focuses
on the post-production aspects of film-making. Students will
learn basic operation of Final Cut Pro digital editing program,
and basic skill of editing picture, sound and music. Students
are required to complete two short films. |
Film History 1A(FH1A) |
This class focuses
on the film history from the birth of film to the Hollywood
movies in 1960's. Emphasis will also be given to the evolution
in style and theme of the films in each decade. |
| Production 1B (PRD1B) |
Students will learn
to write scripts with more fully developed story lines and complete
three scripts which are less than 20 minutes in length. |
Production 2B(PRD2B) |
Students will gain
experience in pre-production and production with more crew members.
Focus will be on the role of a producer and all the students
will gain experience by being the producer of their own
film. |
Production3B(PRD3B) |
At this level, students
will have the opportunity to improve their skills while editing
and completing three short films. They will also learn more
professional levels of the post-production, including film opticals,
CGI, sound FX, sound design, ADR, Foley, music cues, temp music
and original sound track. |

Focuses on the Hollywood
movies from 1970's thru 2000. Students will examine and learn
about the evolution in style and theme of the films in each
decade. |
